RUNNING BACK

Cal The Bears replace last years' leading rusher Shane Vereen with Isi Sofele. Sofele is listed at 5'8" and 190 pounds. A speedster, Sofele has played well early on as the featured back in the Golden Bear offense. Coming into the Oregon game, Sofele has 79 carries for 356 yards, a 4.5 yards per carry average to go along with 4 touchdowns rushing. Sofele is not much of a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield with only 2 receptions for 29 yards on the season.

One of Cal's better backup running backs, Dasarte Yarnway recently underwent surgery and is out for the season. The second leading rusher for Cal is C.J. Anderson a junior college transfer out of Laney Community College. On the season Anderson has 19 carries for 93 yards. As a team, the Bears average 161 yards per game rushing.
